"Last weekend I wandered into a loft party that promised me live music and cheap drinks. I figured I would stop by, find the music mediocre and the drinks subpar, and go home before midnight. However, the host failed to mention that the live music was going to be the most epic, mind-blowing sound to ever bless my ears, and I wound up staying the entire night dancing to the sweet melodious beats of Monolink.

Monolink, otherwise known as Steffen Linck, is a Berlin-based musician who mixes live guitar and original vocals with electronic beats to produce a smooth, electro-folk sound. With dreadlocked hair like the Weeknd and a mask like Slow Magic, Monolink’s appearance mirrors his sound; a blend of styles that merge into something completely unique and enticing.

In the past year, he’s played Fusion Festival in Lärz, Hans und Gloria in Berlin, Drodesera Festival in Italy, and Fuchsbau Festival in Hannover, as well as a handful of sets at popular Berlin spots like Sisyphos, Ritter Butzke, and Haus der Kulturen der Welt.

"Here's a weightless number from the previously unbeknownst to me Teresa Winter, bubbling up from a forthcoming tape on Reckno (and one of the first vocal-laden albums on the mighty label, if I'm not mistaken).

Bouncing forever down a hall of mirrors, Teresa's featherlight vocals and braided synth flutes echo Vashti Bunyan and Geoffrey Oryema. The chorus lands a hook where no hook should stay – hanging like a glow-worm amidst a multiverse of voices. Meltier still, the gorgeous coda takes devotional singing, distant brass and a cascade of Ravel-esque piano – over all too quickly.

Teresa Winter's album Oh Tina No Tina is out soon on Reckno. A little bird tells us some advance tapes will be available at the Peckham Independent Label Fair in London this Saturday - get down there!"

Bandvorstellung aus Bayern – aerosol

"Mitten drin in diesem Februarwochenende wollen wir Euch eine Band aus Bayern vorstellen. Das Soundkartell hat ein paar Informationen zur Band aerosol aus Kaufbeuren für Euch gesammelt.

Das Gegenteil von urban? Vielleicht ländlich. Rural klingt etwas gestochener. Abgeschiedenheit wäre noch etwas, das negativer behaftet ist, aber eben auch das Gegenteil von urban bezeichnet. Als dieses Gegenteil bezeichnet sich die Band aerosol aus Kaufbeuren. Die drei Musiker aus Bayern sind jenseits des urbanen Stresses beheimatet. Direkt vor der wundervollen Kulisse der Alpen. Das ist ein Einfluss, aus dem die Songs der Band beeinflusst wurden. Seit 2013 besteht die Band nun schon und Peter ist dabei für das Schreiben der deutschsprachigen Texte verantwortlich. Als scharfkantig bezeichnen sie die Gitarrenmelodien, die er dabei seinem Instrument entlockt. So sind die Songs ohne die Vocals von Peter nicht unbedingt sehr düster arrangiert. Es ist die Stimme, ihre Brachialität, die dem Sound und den Songs wie „Schiffbruch“ einen sperrigen und doch etwas schrofferen Anstrich verpassen. Insgesamt ist der Sound kompakt. Dicht an dicht reihen sich die Songs in ihrer Debüt-EP und erzeugen eine düstere und melancholische Stimmung. Die Bayern haben da ein gutes Debüt hingelegt. Die Story, dass sie sich zur Produktion in ein sehr kleines Haus, eher eine Hütte zurückgezogen haben, zieht in dem Fall perfekt."
